One extended voyage through the Land Down Under has been cancelled in the wake of the death of an senior female passenger who was stranded by the cruise liner on a isolated island.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the remote island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the excursion for a pause. The vessel left without her and returned after some time after the ship staff realised the lady was not present.

A major search operation found her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the incident, in coordination with investigators and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the shipping company announced that passengers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were told that the remainder of the journey had been called off due to the "sad loss and previous technical problems".

In a statement, he mentioned that travelers would be issued a full refund, and said the operator was working "to arrange the travel back of the passengers via chartered flights".

Regulatory bodies also issued an updated communication, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Captain" banning any further travelers from entering the vessel.

The spokesperson said that they would attend the liner in the Australian city upon its return.
