US Military Struck a 'Major Complex' in the Venezuelan nation, President Trump Stated Without Providing Details.

Former President Donald Trump has claimed that US military assets struck a "large facility" in the South American country in recent days. However, the former president did not specify the exact nature or site of the strike, and there has been no further comment from his team.

Unspecific Comments Made In a Talk Interview

"US forces just eliminated – I don't know if you saw – they have a big plant, where the vessels originate. Two nights ago, we took it out. So we targeted them very hard," Trump reportedly said to Republican donor and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Significance of a Confirmed Strike

If a US strike is confirmed, it would represent the first ground target hit since the Pentagon began a expansion of American military presence in the region to halt drug traffickers that the former administration claims operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The initial mission of the force deployment has evolved into a quarantine aimed at stopping the country's oil exports.

Online Video and Administration Statements

Trump has for weeks stated that US forces are prepared to widen the military campaign by hitting targets inside Venezuela, a tactic that would in theory require legislative authorization.

Online video circulated online on 24 December seemed to depict an explosion reportedly from an industrial area in Zulia state. However, the footage or the site in question has not been independently verified.

An official from Trump's team reportedly told a media outlet that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Posture

The Maduro government has issued no statement on the incident the former president referenced. Additionally, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela regarding it.

The buildup of American forces in the area – a position some have referred to as a sea blockade – constitutes the most expansive maritime enforcement action of his time in office.

Officials have avoided from labeling the action as a full blockade, but have acknowledged that around 15,000 troops are deployed across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and Coast Guard cutters to uphold current sanctions.
